The internet is a big ol' mess - some of it beautiful, some of it less so. When looking for information and guidance on matters of faith, it is best to start with the people at church, particularly your elders and the Pastor.  Then, it's best to look for reliable websites, particularly those that are produced by and/or share convictions with the Lutheran Church (the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is our national denomination). 

The following websites are trustworthy and reliable for your Bible devotion and study.

 

DAILY BIBLE READINGS: The Lutheran church uses a "lectionary," a schedule of readings, for our Sunday Scripture readings. This is called the Revised Common Lectionary, and is a reading schedule shared with many protestant denominations, and is closely related to the Roman Catholic lectionary.

The Daily Lectionary gives us three daily readings - usually a Psalm, an Old Testament, and a New Testament text - that correspond to the readings we use on Sundays. This is called "The Revised Common Lectionary Daily Readings," and is referred to as such on many websites.

All three daily Bible readings are available on Bible Gateway and on DailyLectio. (Bible Gateway has lots of advertisements, which can slow the page; however, it has readings available in hundreds of translations and multiple languages.) Vanderbilt Divinity Library offers a simple daily link to the readings. When given the option for daily readings, select the "complimentary" track of readings.

Daily Lectio is available as a mobile app (Apple, Android), where you can set up push notifications to remind you to read the Scripture daily. When given the option for daily readings, select the "complimentary" track of readings.
